Message: Is it tough to install white face gauges on a 2002 Dakota R/T? I was thinking about getting some for my R/T and doing the install myself. Also, what brand gauges do you guys recomend for the 02 Dakota R/T's?
Thanks for the help.

Message: And oh yeah on the subject of gauges...
For some reason my oil pressure gauge always tends to read on the low side after a while. When I first start my truck it reads a little above the midway point; but then after the engine warms up and I drive around for a bit, the oil pressure gauge starts to read halfway between the middle and low. I've checked my oil level several times and its full, maybe even a little above full. Is the oil pressure gauge reading low like this normal for R/T's?

Message: I cant help you with the gauge install, but the oil pressure dropping is normal. The oil will warm up and start to thin out, making the oil pressure drop slightly. If you are still concerned you can hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge to double check it.

Message: I'm not sure just what your saying > Is it running low while driving or at idle > If while driving I'd be checking it for sure > If while at idle most likely not a problem > Guages are notorious for being inaccurate > sending units are the first suspect

Message: Not sure about Jeff's oil pressure problem, but I also show slightly low oil pressure after it warms up and I'm idling. When at normal driving speeds the pressure is fine, it's just at idle. I was concerned this may be a oil pump going out. Is it more likely that my sending unit is going bad?

Message: Its normal......dont worry about it mine does the same as well. If you think there is a porblem then stomp on the gas for a bit and watch the gauge rise above half way. This was normal for my truck and my 94 v6.....dont worry about it.

Message: oil pressure gage dropping a little at idle when the engine is at operating temp is normal. the FSM states that oil press. at idle should be a minimum of 6 psi with the engine up to temp. as Zach stated, when in doubt check it with a mechanical gage. the first thing to go is usually the sending unit not the gage.
