Message: That big nut holds on the clutch fan only, the pulley is pressed onto the water pump. It's not going to fall off if you remove the clutch fan.

Message: I use an adjustable pipe wrench from the vise-grip people. I had it in my garage to work on my sprinkler system, but it works fine for me. It will grip the bolt, then you just need to keep the pulley from moving while you break the bolt free. On mine the pulley is bolted on, so I just used a big screwdriver and wedged it between the bolts and off it went.

Message: I put a big adjustable wrench on the clutch fan and smacked it CCW with a rubber mallet, broke loose on the first try.
I can thank Texas Todd for the procedure.
