Subject: Does The Computer Monitor Timing? IP: Logged
Message: I have been plagued with both the dreaded Check Engine Light, and an engine that want's to overheat when in slow traffic. Now, I know from experiance that an engine out of time can cause an engine to overheat, but can anyone tell me if that is enough to trigger an intermittent Check Engine Light without giving a code?

Message: Ok, I jumped the gun on it. I found that the timing was right on, so scratch that reason for my problems, but I would still want to know the answer.

Message: Firm, I can clear the light and it will stay off for 50-300 miles, then come on and I'll stop at Advance Auto or AutoZone and it comes up ERROR. If I check the code the old fashion way it shows me all 8's.
