Message: Looks like the stock ride height. I guess no GVWR/towing/buy-back issues to avoid for D-C like before. A "Quad Cab R/T" seems a little funky, but that's "progress". It's going to take more than 260HP to make 4300 pound Club Cab feel lively.

Message: Someone took a bunch of pictures of that truck at the Chicago Auto Show last year that are floating around the web (copies are on my site), it really doesn't look very good.
260hp from a HO V8? Gimme a break, that's what the competition's standard V6's are producing.
Dodge really dropped the ball on the new R/T if that's what they actually release.

No doubt, I think I'll hold out for the SRT-8.

Message: Yea Im still not impressed. Ill probably be waiting a few years until they come out with something that I think is worth buying. Anybody know if the pistons rods or crank are much different besides that the pistons are domed for the 9.7 compression. I would love to get some stock forged pistons but i doubt thats gonna happen.

Message: I really wish they would make the Dakota SRT8. Does anybody know if they are going to and when? It only seems obvious to me since Chrysler is making everything in their line up available with the SRT performance package. When they do, I'll definitley be buying the Dakota SRT8.

Message: I know they had a problem selling the STD Cabs but how much of a problem did they have selling those that were R/T's. I dont know why someone would want a quad cab R/T...just more weight to contend with. But as stated I guess the R/T isn't the High Perf. model any more. They better stuff the Hemi under a Dak Soon.

Message: dodge's new dakota is a joke. have you read all the bad reviews on it in the dealer recalls section. the brakes are junk and if it was me i would drive my 05 dak through the service office and say "sorry no brakes"
it is only a r/t so that just means it will have a better flowing exhaust and stiff sway bars.
the damn hemi should have been in the dak since day one. the people at dodge designing the new dak should have been shot. where they fuking blind that thing is fuking ugly. if they would have at least put bigger rims like 18s 19s that thing would have had a big improvement. and if they didn't fix the sh!ty a$$ front suspension that they had on the gen111 than i feel bad for every 05 dak owner.
in conclusion Dodge f**ked up one of the best looking best preforming and longest last mid-size trucks.

Message: I have actually seen an SRT-8 dakota. Actually I wasn't the only on here in phoenix. I met this rice burner kid two weeks ago that said he had seen the same one I did. It was white with the same SRT-10 ram hood scoop, wing on the bed, same exhaust as the SRT-10,said SRT-8 on the tailgate. Looked all right but I would think about taking the friggin Mitsu Raider front end and slapping it on the front of the Dak. Probably look better w/o the Mistu emblems though.

Message: yeah a H.O 4.7 with 260hp is nothing when fords 4.6 3v has 292hp and chevy's 4.8 has 300hp. But I fell they will put a hemi in the dakota just don't know when.

Message: "it's ugly" -- beauty's in the eye of the beholder, dude. You want ugly, go look at that Honda brick thing.
"the brakes are junk" -- not all of them. I just did the TSB's recommended test on my '05 last night. No shudder, at 12,000 miles.
"the designers should be shot for not having the Hemi in the new Dakota" -- they only get to do so much. Go spend a few months working in a product development environment where you have cost targets and packaging limits before you go postal at Jeep/Truck Engineering.

i think it's ugly and I definitley think they should of put the hemi in it...as far as cost targets, isn't that the point? sell what the majority of the people want and the majority of people will buy it...
alot of people buying the truck = meeting cost targets
