Subject: ELECTRIC FAN QUEST 4.7L
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a '00 QC w/ 4.7L. The little electric fan in front has stopped running. Is this a problem? I havent overheated yet in the FL weather just using the clutch fan and it is going to start cooling off soon. Is this something that can be put off? I suppose I am sacrificing some MPG's by not making the repair, huh? I called and they wanted around $400 to fix at dealership...sounds like a lot to me. Any suggestions? Is it easy to replace fan myself? Thanks.

Hardest part is finding one that fits the best and flows enough air. Then fabricating a mount.

I'd stay AWAY form them zip tie things that pull through the radiator. They are trouble after a while.

On our '98 Cirrus (don't have that anymore) a fan died. It was $300+ for that assembly and ONLY a dealer had it.

I bought a universal fan. Removed the motor form the original fan assembly. Removed the motor off of the universal and I easly adapted it over to the OEM assembly. It worked fine noise free until we traded it in :P

Couldn't find it. Must be buried kinda deep in things.
What category is it hiding in?

You go to the link then click on the 'Start' button. That will link you over to a catalog window with a tree of different makes. You have to drill down to your vehicle by clicking on Dodge>2000>Dakota>4.7L 287cid V8>cooling system>radiator fan assembly and viola! There's the part!
Happy hunting.
