Subject: Thank you people.... IP: Logged
Message: I don't really post here just lurk and do alot of reading. But wanted to say thank you, you all have helped me decide what parts to put on my Dingo!!! Heres what i did to my 99 Durango SLT 5.2l 4x4 with 112,000 miles.....
Accel cap and rotor with brass termials
MSD 8.5 supper conductor wires
Auto light 3923's
Dynomax cat back exhoust system
electric fan
Spend around $420 on all this.
So far I have only put on the exhaust cap&rotor plugs and wires. And HOLY CRAP OLAAA!! does this thing rock now! much more pep and zip and a big deep bass sounding exhaust, not to loud but you know its not stock. The old plugs were the stock champion plugs and when i pulled them out they looked good but were gaped at .065 to .075!!! I put the Autolights in with the factory gap of .040 and it starts and runs SO much smother!!!
My MPG has went from around 16 to 18 mpg with just this (tested it on a 25 mile loop befor and after reseting the trip computer each time) I can't wait to put on my electric fan and put some symthetic stuff in the diffs and tcase.
I figured this up....
If gas was on average $2.75 gallon
1000 miles @ 16 MPG would use 62.5 gallons or $171.87
1000miles @ 18 MPG would use 55.5 gallons or $152.62
62.5 - 55.5 = 7 gallons or $19.25 saved per 1000 miles
SO......
$420 / $19.25 = 21.81
21.81 * 1000 = 21,810 miles
SO....if gas was on average of $2.75 per gallon I would have to drive about 22,000 miles to get my money back...not to bad if you ask me. Now I want to put my electric fan on and switch to synthetics!!!
I will really get to test it out in a few mothes on the interstae as I will be going from South Carolina to Iowa for the holidays and back. I usually got around an average of 17 to 17.5 for the 1300 mile one way trip....so we will see.
Once again thank you all!!!!!
