Message: Another quick question... I was thinking of replacing my stock coil with an aftermarket one, such as the Accel coil. The Accel coil says it produces voltages up to 46k, I dont know what the stock produces? Is this a good mod? My truck seems really sluggish off the line, trying to cure the problem. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

Message: An aftermarket coil probably wouldn't hurt. You migh get a more consistent spark with it. I put one (ACCEL) on my Camaro once and it caused the tach to not function properly. Installed the original and it worked fine. I really think that they only come into play if you're turning ridiculous RPM's. But hey, what do I know.

Message: I thought that the voltage of the coil would affect the driveability of the vehicle through the entire RPM band? Wont a stronger spark = better performance? I ordered the Accel coil, so I will be able to put some feedback in on this topic myself. Hoping the the coil along with the Mopar PCM will give my truck a little boost!

Message: i put an accel coil on my truck and didnt notice anything. i put a msd6al w/ timing controler and that was a noticeable gain on the bottom end mainly(also changed cap, wires, plugs, and rotor at the same time).. alot better throttle responce and way smother idle. rember a better coil is usless unless your wires, cap and rotor are also good. good as in accel or msd not just new autozone cheapys.

Message: Ya, I have heard varying opinions on the plug issue... I have a friend who is a Tech for the local Dodge dealership and he said that the Autolite Platinums that I have are junk, and that I should have stuck with the stock champions, or go to an NGK. Hopefully the hotter coil that I have on the way will help the Autolites to perform better. Thanks for the info guys, and any other ideas would be appreciated!

Message: Hope you didn't buy one of those 48,000 or so volt coils > If so your on your way to learning some things the hard way > Any problems caused by it are going to be thought to be else where in the systen cause it just can't be the nice new coil > Not condeming you > just been there and done that > hate to see others make the same mistake > but we all do tend to learn the hard way
