that and an eletric fan you would prob need a higher output altenator, infact i think i need one. Because at a dead stop with the ac on high the voltage drops to around 12, and when i am stopped and have my system playing the truck about dies. Could a high farad cap help this problem?

But for $294, thats not to bad if it could get you some extra hp.

I've only ever seen those used on the drag strip. It supposedly does work, but then again a lot of guys don't run belts, instead running the pump in between runs. For the 60-90 seconds you don't run the cooling pump for on the strip, it't not going to do severe damage to the motor. Then back in the pits, they switch it back on and recharge the battery. Pretty neat.

I have nothing to say about the street application. In theory, it could save you power, much like the way Saturn has moved to electric Power Steering. In practice, I don't know if it will save you or not.

I didn't read the link that closely, but I wonder if the pump spins at a constant RPM all the time, or if it slows down as the engine does. There are two reasons for that concern: one is that if it spins at a constant speed, it may be putting a lot of strain on your battery at idle, when the alternator isn't generating the amps to cope with the draw. The other is that if it doesn't spin up like the water pump on a car, you could end up with insufficient coolant flow at higher RPMs, potentially leading to a number of nasty consequences over time, including overheating.

I would suggest looking into that point especially- you don't want to ruin your truck over 3 horsepower.
