Message: One other side benefit of replacing the PCM i never mentioned to anyone - it reset my odometer, apparently to the mileage figure at the point of failure - in my case, it took more than 25k miles off the counter. I now have a very low mileage vehicle...

Message: Not out to burst your bubble, but there is a potential pitfall here you should be aware of. I've heard the correct milage may be stored in other areas too, one possibly being the body control module. If you misrepresent the vehicle milage when selling, and someone catches it - the penalties could be higher than the increase in value you'd see for 25k less miles. You'll take a substantial risk if you claim that milage as accurate when selling. You should be able to get the correct milage flashed into the donor PCM. Changing PCMs did not change the odometer reading for my truck, so this won't apply to all.
