Message: 96, 318, auto, 22 gallon tank gets me about 400 miles and still a little bit left in the tank. I hope you dont have a 22 gallon tank and only get 250 or you have got a problem.

Message: Sorry, that was a typo I meant to say 340 miles which is about 17 MPG. I dont know why I was thinking 400. But 250 still seems low to me, That is like 12 MPG.

Message: I've averaged 16.4mpg since modifying my air intake. That's mostly in town driving.
Before the air intake mod, I was consistently getting 15.2mpg with every fill up.

I filled up with a 5 Gal can in back and set out for Louisville KY. from Peoria IL. I got to downtown Louisville when I run out of gas 410 miles. put the 5 gals in an filled up. my low fuel light comes on at about 3/4 tank. I would not reccommend doing this very much as these is very hard on fuel pumps.

Message: '00 QC 4.7 4x4 auto, Just got back from a trip to my father in-laws (220 miles all highway) Going up we got stuck behind a lot of Semi's and speeds kept dropping as low as 55mph, then back to 80 and so on. Going up, averaged 17.8mpg, now, coming back is what amazed me. While there, my father in-law gave me a 250gal. oil tank (for home heating oil) which has about 50gal of oil still in it. Weighs in at around 350-400 lbs. Not a TON, but still some decent weight on the trucks back. Coming home, we did not catch any traffic and speeds held steady at 80mph for about 200 of the 220 miles. I was averaging 22.6 mpg coming home. Now, main factors are: 1)no traffic so no drops/increases in speed causing gear changes constantly and 2) later in evening/night with about 15-20 degree cooler temps coming home. The highway we travel consists of a lot of hills (I-70 from northern tip of West Virginia to New Carlisle ((just oustide of Dayton)) for anyone who lives in the area) This is with no tonneau cover, stock plugs/wires and stock size tires 31x10.50 15 and 3.55 gears. Just My 2 Cents

Message: My average is whatever i want. No kiding.
It can be 15,(in my case not maintenable, because i`d have to drive really unefficiently all the time). The ave that i get all the time is more like 19 to 20 mpg, town or high way.
If i drive in rural areas where i can keep speeds up to 50 mph, i get 23+ mpg.
At an ave of 75 mph, i get 20+ mpg.
The beauty of having manual gears is that you can follow traffic at 25mph idleing on 5th, helping to buid a nice ave mpg.
My truck is a full 3mpg better at 110 k miles than it was when brand new.
2000 SLT plus, 4.7, cc, 2wd, 3.92lsd, 5 sp manual, K&N fipk, Fastman 68 tb, 2002 (shorter) HO intake and cams, Gibson headers and 3in single cat back, 180* Tstat, E3 plugs(awesome) no clutch fan and also, a big steel rack and my full tool box w/ it.
