Message: in the old days they measured h.p. at the crank(gross h.p.).i thought today they were required to state net h.p.(at the rear wheels).if this is the case the 230 h.p.(ma./ca. emissions on my truck)should be accurate.if not why.did they go back to gross h.p.?

Message: they didn't go back to gross hp. Net hp is just gross hp - a/c, power steering pump, alt, ... Net hp has nothing to do with whp.

Message: (SAE NET BHP) is a fully equipped engine measured at the crank.
(SAE Gross) is a stripped engine measured at the crank.
