Subject: auto to manual IP: Logged
Message: i have a 318 that has 150000miles and the auto transmission fells like its starting to go. i want to run the manual behide it. how much would that cost.

Message: Manuals are very cheap to buy compared to autos. But putting one in a truck that used be an auto is gonna be a lot more work than you think. Here are some things that will have to be changed: PCM, flywheel, longer driveshaft (on some but not all), And you will have to cut a hole in your floor for the shifter then fab up a place for the clutch pedal. Am I missing anythig?? I did see on one truck before where they put a hand actuated clutch on the shifter handle which was then connected some hydrualic thing so the clutch could be engaged easily but I cant remember exactly how it worked.
