Subject: 2nd Gear Hesitation?? IP: Logged
Message: '99 SLT 4x4, Auto 5.2, 112K miles
Over the past couple months I have noticed that under moderate to hard acceleration I get a hesitation at the "end" of 2nd gear, seems to start to shift into 3rd but drops back into 2nd hard, then gets a firm shift into 3rd a few second later. I don't have the RPM that it happens at, but I'm sure it is over 4K.
Had Tranny serviced recently hoping the proiblem might be in the pan filter or old fluid but no dice, still get the symptom. Any ideas what it could be? No fault codes.
BTW, just installed a set of 33x12.50x15 MTR's - SWEEEEEET, required a little trimming on the inner fender closeouts and I cranked the torsion bars a bit, looks damn good! 3" PA Body lift is next.

Message: Sounds like your do for a trans tune-up or rebuild as some call it. I'm guessing your 2-4 clutch piston seal is worn away. When the pressure builds to make the shift, it overcomes the seal until pressure drops enough to kick it to third. But I could be wrong. That's a must drive and test problem.
