Subject: paint recall?
IP: Logged

Message:
I was wondering if any one here knows if there has been any type of paint recall on the Gen I/II. I have a 96 (some call gen 1 some gen 2) and when I was washing it I noticed some of the paint blew right off and left a chunk of primer exposed. I was wondering if this was common and if there was any type of recall for this. This has me concerned as the next time I wash I will have to be more careful around this area as well as other possible soft spots.

I don't know what color they call it. It is the 2 tone where the top and bottom is white. This is sprayed over the middle strip which is what some may call light blue but I think of as seafoam blue/green.

As for it coming off it is on this surface too. It also isn't near as smooth as the white. I contribute this to the extra layers of paint but would still think a clear coat would have worked on both to protect unless they don't use that with 2 tones.

this is called "delamination". I think it is a problem with the primer (drying to fast before color is applied??) There is a perforation warranty, however I'm not sure if yours is still within time/mileage limits. Check with your dealer. good luck
