Subject: fan problem IP: Logged
Message: I've got a '00 4.7 club cab dak 4x4.I've notice that my fan is always running in hi speed even if my ac is not on and my defrost is off,and is sure ain't helping my fuel millage.i'm tinking about changing my fan clutch but just want to be sure before i've got my hand dirty any clues??? thanks for your help

Get rid of the fan cluch and fan alltogether!!
You talk abou8t the a/c off and defrost off, which would leave your Electric fan off if the engine is cool enough.
Then, you talk about changing your fan clutch?
I'm a little confused here.
The electronics, have nothing to do with your
belt driven fan clutch. I'ts an oil filled, viscous clutch.
Like many others, I got rid of mine over 4 years ago. LIve in a very hot climate, and have never had the gauge even go to half. I do have a 180 T stat.
By doing this, this frees up torque and HP at all throttle settings, by getting rid of the rotating mass-the clutch.
Try it, you won't be sorry.
