I have a 04 Dakota with less than 20,000. Between 30-50 MPH it shakes seems to be coming from the rear. I have had an alignment and new tires, which were rebalanced, and it continues to shake. Any ideas?

Hit anything that could have bent or knocked the balance weight off the drive shaft ?

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

I'd check the driveshaft also.

Hey davec here is a tip on your problem: try driving in a different gear at the same speed. For example, drive in 2 (auto) or in 4th (stnd) at the same speed (I belive you said between 30-50 mph). What this does is increases engine rpm, and if the vibration still exsits then it something with a wheel, the drive shaft or rear end assembly. If the vibration happens at a different speed then it's probably related to the engine or tranny. Hope this helps!

Tires? Maybe cupped badly or a tread ply speration maybe. That's a blind guess of course. I've not seen too much trouble with the goodyear wranglers like what are on my truck. I don't know what's on yours. Kind of unfortunate in my opinion- I don't like those tires much.

Replacing just 2 tires generally isn't a good policy, especially if you have 4 wheel ABS which was an option for '04.

How's the inflation pressure on those tires too? That might solve some of your problem. I think 35 PSI all the way around on a Dakota, but look it up for good measure.

Univerasl joints could cause some shuddering if they're getting ready to let go.

Well, good luck anyway.
