Subject: Oil Refineries? IP: Logged
Message: This question does not deal with a specific Dakota problem, but certainly affects all of us with these rising gas prices.
I hear the economist's say the main problem with rising oil costs is supply vs demand, and that the USA has not built a oil refinery since the 1970's?
Does anyone know the real reason why the US has not built additional refining capacity, and if there is any plans to do so in the future.
Thanks!

Message: I know little but the things I hear are that they don't make new plants cause they are to busy chasing updates to old refineries to keep in line with all the new Environmental laws which also differ from state to state.
If all states would have the same regulations then I have heard they can keep up.
