I just installed this kit on my jeep which has the 4.7v8 with a 545rfe similar to the dakotas. It worked very well for me. Here is the post I added at the jeeps unlimited forums:

Good write-up. I thought that there was an accumulator, or something, that required removal of the trans in order to fully install the kit?

The kit you are thinking of was the original kit produced by transgo. It was mearly a repair kit, and did not iomprove shift quality, although some places advertised it as such. The kit I installed was just finished last week, and I was sent one of the first kits available.

Actually the kit has not been released yet for everyone. The kit part number will be 45rfe-hd2 and should be available in a few weeks.
