Subject: How to modify the kick down shift point? IP: Logged
Message: My father have a Ram 2500 HEMI with a 545RFE.
I know that this was almost the same as a 45RFE.
So he has a fitfh-wheel and he want to get a better gas mileage.
What he goes at 55mph and was at about 1800rpm there is no problem but as soon as he push the throttle to go a little faster (200 RMP) it change of speed... (O/D go off).
But what he would like to do it was to have the O/D off at 2400RPM at the place of 2000.
What we can do to change it... I don't think that a superchip can help for that.
The dealer do not what to change the shift point in the computer...
So help me find a way to get him a better gas mileage
thanks

Message: well dude its hard to understand you, but anyway the way they have the shift points stock is the most
efficient, even when towing. thats just what i belive, maybe a ram website would help u out more

Message: MOPAR is correct far as i'm concerned > Dodge trucks are not gas mizers but they are set up to get the best mileage possible > To be sure this is not great but not so terrible either considering your driving a heavy automobile designed to work > If you was to up the shift, you would be forcing the truck to pull way to hard for the torque available at the improper RPMs and actually distry the gas mileage your getting now > I can't believe you bought a truck without knowing the mileage would not be good > no mater the make

Message: A 200 rpm change isn't OD dropping out. That's gotta be the torque converter unlocking.
