Subject: Non HO manifolds IP: Logged
Message: I have an 04 4.7 I was wondering if it would be advantages for me to put a non HO intake on my dak for the tq. If so what mods would I have to perform?

Message: I wouldn't bother - you'd at least need the older style IAT sensor to work with the older manifold. The manifold you have now is the same for both HO and the regular 4.7 for that year; and is a compromise design between the older regular manifold tuned a little more for low end torque and the older HO manifold tuned more for high end.

Message: Definitely not worth the trouble. I had the 2000 manifold and switched to the 2004 manifold. You won't notice a bottom end increase because I didn't lose any bottom end. You'll only notice what a pain in the *ss it was to change (because the dipstick tube is always in the way), you'll have to change your PCV tubing from the back of the manifold to the oil filler housing, get the old style IAT sensor and minor work on the vacuum lines. Then you'll notice that the engine seems rougher at high rpm and you'll have slightly more whitish-yellow sludge in your oil filler tube during winter).
Still think it's a good idea?

Message: What about the HO cams. I saw on buymopar.com today that the HO cams do not do anything on the 03 and up dakota... Is this true.. they worked wonders on my old 00....

Message: The cams worked great on my 03. There is no doubt in my mind that it was an improvement. I saw that on buymopar.com too when i was looking for HO cams. Maybe the cams on the jeeps is already a HO. But I dont know.

Message: I have a HO intake that came off my 02' if anybody wants it. I'm in texas but if you'll pay for the shipping I'll sell it for $50. it won't work on my 05' so I have no use for it anymore.

Message: Well Chris,
I know the price has went up,
but in 2002, I got new, from a Jeep dealer, shipped to my door, HO cams, for
$53 each! Including shipping, they were $112 total for both.
Talk about a bang for the buck bargain!

Message: I know... I had bought my HO cams and intake back in 2002 when everyone was jsut starting to get the handle on these things (I too was one of the first few to do it) and I think I paid $220 for the HO intake and cams...
But I was the first to do cams first then intake after and I did notice a MPG improvement with just the cams.. then it dropped back off with the intake... this is why I am thinking cams again...
