Subject: Self Installation Catback IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 4.7 CC 4X4 with everything stock with the exception of 32" Goodyear MTR tires. I have been researching a catback exhaust and have settled on a Magnaflow system. The local exhaust shop wants $572 for the system and installation. I have found it all over the internet for $399 and on Ebay for even less. I'm pretty much a do-it-yourselfer and would like to install it myself and save about $200. My only concern is how difficult is it going to be to get the factory system off after 5 years of corrosion? I don't have torches available so my only options are trying to unbolt it and where that is not possible, cutting it with a sawsall. Before I order the system I thought I would ask for opinions and suggestions. Thanks.

Message: dennis,
not difficult at all. all you need is some
wd40 to spray on the rubber hangers to help slip
off the exhaust and then use a sawsall to cut
the pipe and then drop the new one in.
ITS CAKE!

Message: Just whack it off with a sawzall. Trying to unbolt everything is a pointelss waste of time. The muffler shop would do the same.
