Message: I have a Motorsports Edition Dak. Love the hell out of it. Its a Sport Dakota, with the different badging and rims and tires. That's really about it. Everything else is the same as any other Sport Dakota with the 4.7 V8. Get ALOT of looks, but aside from performance, theres nothing special about it. I was cusious about how many they made and the mods to it when I bought it, and I had gone to the Big E (Easter States Exposition) because Dodge was there showing off new models. They have a Power Wagon concet, they have a couple engines out, Viper, Ram, Durango.. Nice spread, and I was speaking to the representative from Dodge, and was told this. So I did a little investigation of my own. Nothing special about it but the badging and the rims and stuff. The track bag you get with it is really cool though. Some cool stuff. I was also looking at powder coating R/T rims black to replace mine. But looked into it more, and they wouldnt really look all that good. I dont think atleast. I can send some pictures of mine if anyones interested, just e mail me. NickTheToolGuy00@aol.com

Message: It used to be possible to put the motorsports package on any motor Dakota so there are bound to be a few 4 cylinder ones running around out there, I bet most ended up being v-6 models, and probably a good number of v-8's. By no means is the v-8 a required part of the package.

Message: I know this is an old thread, but are there any recent 2001 Motorsports Dak owners out there? DC told me that 1,028 was the total number produced. I've got a black/RC/4.7/5-spd/3:92/buckets/manual windows-locks. I'm thinking about putting R/T wheels on for daily driving and saving the stock combo for car shows.

Message: Don't buy headers for the 4.7 you'll just be wasting your money... the exhaust manifold flows very well and shorty headers won't show any gains... long tube headers will show something, but I don't see anyone making them yet

Message: fastdak...Is yours a black regular cab? Also, I read an article about the 4.7 last year where the Chrysler engineer that designed the exhaust system said that the stock design flowed within 2 per cent of headers; quite a feat. Spend your hard-earned bucks elsewhere first.

DemonDakota - what are they going to charge you? May be cheaper to do it yourself... if you have the patience/skill. Just make sure all of the tubes are even length, and get some info together about optimum tube sizes etc... just tack weld all of the tubes together and then take them to a shop for the final welding. Then take them home and grind down the welds and send them out for ceramic coating. Lot's of work, but would be worth it for the result!

Message: Darcy, my cost will be approx $600 with ceramic coating. I have an acquaintance who is opening up a new shop in the Loganville, GA area (Walton County = no emissions), and I'm his first customer. Not bad for all the fab work, coating, and the install. Should really help out the 4.7L. That, and it's all real good stainless as well. This guy is hooking me up.

Message: fastdak..there's 11 others out there like ours! These things are really rare. I bought mine in Sept.2001 and have yet to see another one on the street (43K/mi). I was looking for a RC/4.7/bucket seats or an R/T back then, and came across this one on dodge.com new inventory search. Others that I came across at the time were: Red RC/4.7/5spd/3:92, Red RC/4.7/auto/3:55, Silver RC/4.7/5spd/3:92, Red CC/3.9/auto, and Black QC/4.7/auto. Only one person has told me that they have seen another Motorsports Dak besides mine.
