blackdak01: I seems that you have found one of the 13, like the copies fastdak and I have. RC refers to "regular" cab, or base model. CC is the club cab, still 2 doors, but a small window behind the doors, and the extension allows for a small rear seat. QC is the quad cab, with 4 full size doors.

thanks 01motorsport, I went ahead and bought the truck....I absolutely love the acceleration on these things. Its an absolute ball to drive. Its also pretty cool that I can say I own one of only 13 like mine made.

Congatulations, blackdak01. It still amazing the internet makes the world smaller. I drove my '01 home 3 years ago today, and have yet to cross paths with another Motorsports Edition in traffic, and I drive 30K a year.

Man, we must be lucky around here. I have seen at least 5 or 6 around here. 3 red, two black off the top of my head. All regular cabs. All but one were 4.7 5-speeds. One 3.9 auto.

Looking back, the Motorsports Edition probably caused the largest "ripple" of 4.7 5-speeds in Dodge dealers' inventory.

The 13 referred to had the specifications of: Black paint/Regular Cab/4.7/5-speed manual/3:92 axle. The Motorsports trucks had a proprietary VIN number as well.

Just for info, bought my Motorsports Edition in July 01, Silver, CC, 4.7L, Manual 5 speed with 3.92 rear end. I live in Marrero, LA and have only seen one other and it was a Red CC cruising around Ogunquit, Maine. Like everyone else I really enjoy driving this thing. Most fun I have had since my 69 Z28.
Mods: KB Supercharger, Centerforce dual disk clutch assembly to take the extra torque.

Hi there, fastdak...D-C emailed me back on the VIN. The Motorsports Editions do NOT have specific VIN codes, but rather a "sales code", which is: "ACM-Motorsports Limited Edition Group". I seriously doubt that there are any Motorsports "clones" sporting the decals and 16x8 black wheels at this point. Years ago, there was a ton of fake 1969 Z-28 Camaros running around, for example.

thanks for trying. i doubt if there are any clones of these. most of the people i see at car shows ask me where i got the decals and rims from. when i tell them it came that way from the factory they are shocked.i have only met a few ppl. who even know about the motorsports package. p.s. i won a 1st. place trophy for stock truck this year. how many miles ya got on yours now? i have 31,600mi on mine. and about 15 mi. of those were on the 1/4 mile. lol. best time was a 15.441@85.97mph

See one everyday on the way to work. Red, the fella who owns it keeps it in nice shape. He works in the building next to mine. He also has a rumble bee, Bright yellow. Nice also. I envy him.
Did I mention every so often his boss, Who is also the owner brings in his viper. I envy him also. (he is supposed to be a ford man, Go figure)

My l'il RC has 96K on the clock now, mainly because its my "business partner" and works 31K/year. I must say that driving the Dak is often the best part of my day. The last two mods were HO cams and the "true" 68mm stock TB. I've been using Mobil 1 5w-30 the past 10K. My city mpg is a steady 19, hwy is 18.5 to 19 (on R/T 17x9's w/255/55/17 Michelin LTX; PCM flashed for 28" tire). The 16x8's and Eagle #1's are still in storage w/50% tread depth. Someday, I hope to mount 'em up for the Mopar Nationals or Dakota R/T Nationals.

wow, ya got the miles! any major things go bad yet? stuff i should look for on mine? the only prob. i have is the rear drums keep going out of round. the stealer says it's uneven wear. right! love that truck! keep it shiny!
