Message: That's news to me, drummin. From all that I could determine, including the brochure in 2001, all the Motorsports Editions used the current factory drivetrains. If there was a 305hp edition, I'm sure the motoring press would have got wind of it. Come to think of it, I've never heard of any 5.9 Motorsports Daks, either. '01 Motorsports Edition RC 4.7 5-spd. 3:92. "Daily driving" on R/T wheels and 255/55/17's.

Message: You could be right; I'm not sure where else to check the specs on my Dak...any leads?
I'am sure that this thing is quicker than the 5.9L. There isn't one in town that can keep up.
I bought it used from an Ohio Auction...flew up and drove it back. Got a ticket the 1st day...
Does the quarter in 13.8...local tracks are iffy you know...

Message: There are a couple of good threads on the subject on this site, more than anywhere else. Just put "Dodge Motorsports Edition" in the search box. I went to dodge.com, and "ask Jeeves" for customer service. They gave me the production numbers of 1028 total and 13 for my model, RC black 4.7 5-spd 3:92. From what I can determine, the vast majority of these trucks were 4.7's. I've only seen one 3.9 CC red. Since they were dealer order only, most of them went for the 4.7 in the spirit of the vehicle. I put my black wheels and Eagle #1's in storage for car shows, or when I sell the truck some day. Got a spare decal set just in case.

I,m trying to get another decal for the passenger side fender. Did they only come out with one on them? The dealership said he could get one for 80 dollars. Seems a bit high just for a decal. Any suggestions?

Message: I purchased my motorsport new and it did not have decals on the fenders, just the doors. Vandels got to it in October and I had to replace the decal on the drivers door. It cost me $73.50
Good Luck

Message: Dear 01,
Simple mods are not hard with this engine...It already has the overhead cams...easy to change...the exhausts, k&n cold air, and thenPrecision Hot Rod out of Houston tweaked the computor. They say it has 330 hp, but it feels more like 300 to me. It screams at 6000 rpm.
Come to Texas and drive it.

Message: Well if it does have 300 rwhp, I wana see some dyno sheets because to my knowledge no naturally asperated 4.7 dakota has been modded to 300 hp. If you can "prove it" then please share your secrets behind getting this motor to that level.

Message: Dear oi,
What level of knowleged do you have of the 4.7? There are all kinds of kits you can purchase to upgrade the 4.7. Even Dodge p.parts has an upgrade. Do you shop for parts on the internet? As for the dyno, I'm curious myself. As for proof, I'm driving it.

Message: Back to my first post at this time slot. The Quad Cab Motorsports Ed. can be found at www.beatychevrolet.com . Click on Vehicles/Pre-owned Inventory/Dodge/Dakota/2001. The Knoxville News-Sentinal shows $12,995 in Beaty's ad. When you navigate to the used vehicles, a "2" appears before the web name, but I guess it can't be used as a shortcut.

Message: Hi, fastdak! The numbers I got were from www.dodge.com , "Ask Jeeves" for Customer Service. I didn't want to bug D-C more after they replied about the 1028 and 13, but like you, there is more curiosity. I always wondered if a dealer ever DID order a 4-cylinder Motorsports. I highly doubt it, since the $600 Motorsports option could have gone for engine upgrade on a regular Sport. I think the silver color was probably extremely rare (I've only seen or heard of one).
