I called KRC today and asked about some HO cams I was told they do nothing for an 04 4.7 (because they changed the cams in 04), but they do a lot for a 03 Dak. They tried to get me to buy the KRC 206 cams for 750 dollars, not wanting to argue with someone who knows much more about Daks than I do I just ended the call. Curious about this because the 04 has the same HP and TQ as an 03 I thought this interesting and went down to my local dodge dealer and looked up the camshaft part numbers for non HO 4.7s in 01,02,03,04 they are the same part numbers Left 53021159AD, Right 53021160AD. This angers me that I was lied to ,I might of bought the 206 cams if the guy would of been truthful to me.

Yup, as long as the '04 has the same cams as previous years that's just a bunch of b.s. that you wont see a gain from the HO cams. Just get the HO cams from a discounted source (some advertise discounted prices in the Mopar magazines) and save yourself a few bucks - a search of this site will give you dimensions to make the chain wedge yourself. Most of the torque gain of the HO motor just by swapping cams.

I have emailed them with questions several times and had very detailed questions. I would usually get one liner responses that were of no help to me whatsoever. Who it was that replied to them I dont know. I believe in their products, but not so sure about their customer service

Gains for your '04 should be the same as for the other year 4.7s with the same cams. I see you responded to FLDAk for the used cams that he has in another thread. Don't know him personally, but he's been posting here for a while - I've had good luck with the couple of things I've bought from members who've been here a while, for whatever that's worth.

I personally have never bought anything from KRC or socaldakota for that matter. Most of my parts have either been deals from members on the various Dodge boards or mopartsracing.com. I have talked to Marty and corresponded with Bill in the past, and have nothing but respect for what they do. There are only a couple players that specialize in the Mopar engines, and they do tend to get very busy. I know not too long ago they had 4 or 5 engines in the shop they were building, in addition to whatever other orders were pending.

I can't speak to the 4.7, as I have a magnum and parts/mods for the 4.7 are only just beginning to become available. It is still a relatively new engine, all things considered. Just look at the recent ASP pulleys debacle. People are still learning what works with this engine.

I don't think that 'BernD' has anything to do here.

I have dealt with Marty several times on technical issues I couldn't come up with answers on, and he has always been dead on. Getting a hold of him is not always that easy, he is very busy actually working.
Maybe rephrase the question you had for him and call and ask it again. Make sure you are clear and precise and not muddled. I get about 50 calls a day at the speed shop I work, at and most of the people calling don't have any idea what they are asking for, much less the testicles to speak up and ask the questions. I keep half expecting them to say 'hold on I'll put my mom on the line, her balls are bigger than mine.' (Not saying this is you, but explore all avenues here) Also make it clear you aren't asking for suggestions, you are looking for a specific part for your vehicle. You have already investigated the possibilities and you want H.O. Cams.

If you are just calling to bullsh!t and kick the tires and waste some time, then call a priest, they love to B.S. and waste time. Their web site has prices and on line ordering, so use it if you already know it all. Speak with purpose on the phone also; do not take 7 minutes to muddle out 3 sentences with 4 words each.

Later,
Lynn

Lynn, apparently the guy he talked to caught him off guard by claiming that the 04 had different cams than the 03 and he would not benefit enough with just the HO cams. Everyone that calls doesn't know everything like you. He did the right thing. He got off the phone and did some research.

Assuming that he didn't talk to Marty, the guy seems to have handed him a line of BS. I what he says is really true, he needs to call back and actually talk to Marty and tell him exactly what he was told by this guy.

I find that 04 DAK is a very typical enthusiast and deserves your attention and respect. People that can't handle dealing with common folks should stay working for someone and not try to go into business for themselves.

I am running many KRC parts right now, Marty took the time with me to assure I was making the right decisions. I have also made private deals with employees of KRC. As well as been helped out in a jamb, on more than one ocation. You will not find a better Magnum shop hands down. I have not met a certified Dodge tech with the knowledge these guys carry for our trucks. There must be a reason for the mistake as I'm sure it is only that, a mistake.

If your looking for customer service call Hughes.

MY TURN

I live by Marty and drive by his shop every day and the parking lot is F U L L of Dodge trucks both large & small and of all different colors. Its a regular rainbow made of Dodges there.

Call again and ask to speak DIRECTLY with Marty himself, he is the one that I know from personal experience that makes things happen at KRC. He himself changed my cams and when finding a broken plastic part in the process of the cam change, he was willing to replace it out of his own pocket. Of course I over paid him for the job due to his speediness of the job and his willingness on that part AND dropped off a huge helping of fresh BBQ the next day for him and his crew.

Unfortunately I have not had a need to stop in since then to even say "whats up".

I'm not sure who you spoke with and I apologize for any misunderstanding. I'll talk to our employees tomorrow and see who talked to you on the phone. The HO cams are a decent bang for the buck. The numbers we've gotten from our 206's and so on are so much better though - that we are really trying to get our customers to go that route. I hope we can get your business. You can always e-mail me at b1llyw@aol.com with any questions. I am the co-owner of the shop with Marty.
