Message: The cams are an excellent suggestion; especially if you can do them yourself.

Message: Rear gears: either 3.92 or 4.10. Won't make more hp in the engine, but will dramatically improve torque application to the pavement. Add LSD while you're in there.
Better tires. You got to hook up if you're going get any where.
Better suspension: Same as tires.
Better brakes: Obvious.
Computer reprogram. There's lots of hp and torque to be gained there. This is where you'll pick up your easiest and cheapest power. Be carefull about the ones that require premium fuel. They add a small amount of power over the "mid-grade" tune, and really increase you operating costs. Do a search on Hypertech, Jet, and MP computers.
Without even opening the hood you can easily cut roughly .5-.75 sec off your 1/4 mile times, maybe more.

Message: Don't programmers help a truck more that has an auto as they change shift points? Just a thought. Do you have an auto or stick?

Message: A programmer will help an auto more, because it needs more help. But it also changes the timing and fuel curves - which gets you more hp and torque from the engine - no matter what trans is there.

Message: SuperChips seems to be the best choice. You can find them for well under $400. Used they are well under $300 and sometimes under $200. Shop around.

Message: I thought there was only one Power Programmer for the 4.7 Dak currently, or did someone else come out with one?

Message: I think it DOES make a difference which transmission you have with the programmers and flashes. If a manual truck already has more ignition advance designed into the PCM from the factory, then an automatic could see better gains. One person reported finding 3 different levels of ignition advance in different stock trucks; it is likely there is even more variety.
