Subject: Why change oil every 3000 miles IP: Logged
Message: I always used to change my oil every 5000 miles per manufacturers recomendations. Since the quick oil change places took over in the late 90's everyone is recomending 3000 miles, what's up with that? Has oil gotten that bad or is this just a ploy to get everyone to change thier oil before they need to. I understand if i had a 240 HP turbo charged 4 cyl but my motor has never reved over 4800 rpms

Message: I guess the best thing is to go with the manufacturers recomendations for oil changes. I used to change mine every 3K, but since switching to full synthetic I now do it every 5K.

Message: guys, really the manufactures don't know how the truck is driven, depending on the style of driving and climate. I change my oil when needed usually every 3k. the real way is to look at your oil and see if it is dirty and if it feels gritty, then it is time. if not then good, let it go another thousand or two.
