Subject: Whining LS after Mobil 1 IP: Logged
Message: Hi guys,
I replaces the gear oil in my 2002 4.7 4X4 rear LS with Mobil 1. It whines a lot now. I even added the friction modifier after two days but still no luck.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Message: It's best to add the friction modifier when you're changing the diff fluid. Unless you drained the diffential and mixed friction modifier into the fluid (please don't envision someone stirring a container of diff fluid while pouring in FM) when you filled the differential, it's probably going to take a while for the FM to work it's way into your clutch packs. How many miles did you put on it w/o FM? How many since adding the FM? Have you gone to an empty parking lot and driven your truck in several circles in each direction and listened for that awful sound of clutches not slipping when they should?
