Subject: metal found in rear diff. IP: Logged
Message: I took my truck (97 Dakota 5.2L 4x4) into the dealer for a fluid change and they noticed a couple of metal fillings in the read diff. I have never noticed any noises or any slipping. They said the fluid was nasty too. Should this be a major concern. How much does a new one cost (in Canadian)
Thanks

Message: A little metal fileings in the oil is normal. I wouldnt worry about it unless it is grinding or making some other noises. Just change the fluid and you'll be fine.
