I bought a hood and headers from someone on this site and never got them. I paid on May 13 and the last time I heard from him was about 5 weeks ago. He still has not shipped the stuff and wont respond to my emails. His name on here was DC_PITTS. I'm not trying to start problems but I don't know what else to do. I don't like throwing away that kind of money. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

How did you pay him????If you paid by CC then call the CC company.Did you happen to get his Phone number,address,real name or anything like that?If you paid him with cash or money order you are pretty much screwed.

I didn't pay with a credit card. I had paypal take it from my checking account. His name was dc_pitts on here and he did start the thread.

If you used paypal you should at least have a name and address. Check your history. The transaction should still be there. If it was a confirmed address you have a better chance of tracking him down.

I'm pretty sure Paypal won't let you do business without a confirmed address, it's the confirmed bank account that's optional. There's also an internet fraud task force. If Paypal won't help you, go here: http://www1.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp

What! Did they change the rules? When I joined Paypal, they didn't activate my account until they were able to confirm my address. As a matter of fact, they sent an activation code to the address I supplied. When I received the activation code in the mail, I had to logon and enter the code before Paypal would let me pay for anything.
I just went to the Paypal site and indeed, you can send money to an unconfirmed address. I guess Paypal decided that they were losing out on potential fees by requiring such a silly thing as payer security. It must have been in the very fine print of one of the many "changes to your user agreement" notifications I received. Aren't lawyers great? They make sure that when you do someone wrong, it's all legal.

Work with your bank to try and recover the money from Paypal. Bug Paypal everyday and have your bank call them if possible. Be persistent, but don't be rude. If you have the person's name and address, you might be able to file a police report. Also, go to the internet fraud link in the previous post. I don't use Paypal and wouldn't recommend it. The safest thing is the credit card.

I've never done business with people that are not well known, frequent posters and post on more than one site.

I checked my history on paypal and it says I did pay with a credit card. I emailed my wife and had her call the credit card company. I'll let you guys know what happens with them. I didn't think I did. When I pulled up the details about the transaction there was no address listed. N56629 I'm positive about the name but it should be all CAPS, I don't know if that matters when looking for names.

Paypal can reverse funds no problem. Just contact them. If his checking account is empty, they will suspend his paypal license and he/she wont be able to use Paypal ever again. I had this happen to me on eBay once. I still got my money back, Paypal probably absorbed the lose.

I think they vasty improved their search engine. It did take a bit of sleuthing though. Since the alleged perp's name didn't bring anything up I just put in "9RT9" hood headers. Bingo, only one post fit.
