Subject: Need help with engine code
IP: Logged

Message:
Engine light came on today, so I recorded what the code was with my Hypertech Programmer. Here is what I found from this site:

1494 Leak Detection Pump (LDP) pressure switch problem - electrical or the pump itself.

What is the Leak Detection Pump, and what is it trying to tell me? I have a leak? What sort of leak? I guess if I knew what the LDP actually was, that would help.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks :)

Kris

Leak detection pump pressurizes fuel tank to check for leaks in the vapor control system.

Check that your gas cap is on tight.

Well, I just went and checked. To make sure, I removed it and then tightened it to the first "click". We'll see if that does anything.

I found after searching more this morning that this particular engine code can be related to the vacuum line leading to the LDP. I checked it for integrity and found it okay. Over time, we'll see if the engine code returns or not.

If there is an Autozone near you, have them read, then erase the code, unless your Hypertech Programmer can do that.
Then won't have to wait so long for the code to clear, and you'll be able to tell if it's fixed if the code doesn't return.

My Hypertech Programmer can both read and clear the codes, so I did that already. Now I just have to wait and see if the code returns or not.
