Message: I recently changed the spark plugs on my 99' 5.2 dakota. I replaced the factory plugs with auto lights and now I have a miss... I even changed the wires and its still there its not a heavy miss like if I switched two wires around but I don't know what the problem is cause it was fine before I changed the old plugs and they had a quarter inch gap they were so old and worn. I have a friend that used to work at a dodge dealership and he said that I have to get special plugs from the dealership because dodges won't run on good plugs they have to have special champions.....I laughed when he said that but is there any truth in it?

Message: Yep, so I heard too. Mopar seems to run best on Champions, regardless of what anyone else says.
I like them.

Message: I've been using Autolites since 1998 and have had no problems with them whether on the strip or the street. What gap have you set them at? Where (rpm, speed, gear) does the miss occur?
There is always a chance, although a highly unlikely one, that one or more of the new plugs was faulty. If you've got some other known good plug, replace one of the autolites with it, drive for a while and see if the miss goes away. If it does then you've found a faulty plug, If not, move on the next one and do the same thing. Long and not fail-proof process but most troubleshooting processes are.

Message: Yes its true that new plugs can be faulty. I just installed Bosch +2 in my Dak and it was missing, took them out and tested them and 2 were bad (no spark at all).
