Message: I was measuring for mounting a Flex-a-lite Trimline fan as a pusher on the front of my radiator, but came across some clearance issues. How have any of you mounted them in such a manner? The advertised width is 3.25", but I'm only measuring just under 2.5" from the front of the radiator to the back edge of the bumper. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Message: Use a puller style fan. Mount it on the engine side of the radiator.
Got a factory electric fan there already? Nevermind.

Message: I am actually looking for just an auxiliary fan, as I intend to keep my factory belt-driven fan. From what I hear, with the exception of the Black Magic fan, which is still iffy on the 5.2, electric fans just will not do enough in the hot, humid climates I am in. Thanks for the reply.

Message: I guess I missed what engine and year,
My 01, 4.7, manual, Quadcab, only has the factory behind the radiator, a 180 t-stat, and NEVER gets hot. I.E. no belt driven clutch/fan.
I'm in the HOuston/Galveston TX. area, how much hotter and humid can you get?

Message: Ditto here for fan and mods. Mine got almost half way up the temp gauge (as if that is bad)the last time I drove it. But it's over 110 here.
So far so good. I only throw my clutch fan back on when I tow in the summer.

Message: Yup, its been in the 90's all week here in MA. No problem in stop and go traffic with just my aux fan and stock thermo. I guess the 4.7's just stay cool.

Message: According to my parts book, you already have a factory electric fan bolted to the radiator.
But only if you have a 4.7L engine.

Message: I think the electric comes with the HD tow package.
Anyway an update. Today I noticed mine go OVER 1/2 way. Then stay steady at 2/3 going no higher. This was in stop and go afternoon traffic here in Phoenix. It gets around 110 degrees. So facking hot that if I roll my window down 3 inches (Just ONE window, to let my subwoofer breath) the truck gets HOT in the cab.
Just to explain how damn HOT it gets here.
I'll continue to watch mine. I'm only running the electric and have 30k+ miles so far.

Message: I apparently left out a number of the details initially in this post...I had it all down, but then had to re-post it and left a lot out. Mine is a '99 5.2 4X4, but it looks like for the time being I will just make do with it running hot until I can come up with an alternative. Thanks.

Message: I have the FLX-150 which is the black magic 15" fan on my 5.2 With A/C and the tow package that includes the oil cooler and all the extra heat load on the radiator. I have had very good luck with it. It had been 90+ degrees here and I have had no problems. On lower temp days (less than 65) the fan only comes on when I am sitting at a traffic light. Once I start moving it will turn off. I also just installed a Procharger that has increased underhood temps by 20 degrees or so, and the fan still keeps the engine temp steady.
After I bought my fan, Flexalite came out with the same thing in an 18" style. I am looking at selling the 15" to my brother who has the v-6 so that I can get the 18". I plan on moving the intercooler in front of the A/C condensor and I want to make sure that things stay cool.

Message: Hopefully I can move back to either: A. a cooler climate or B. a drier climate... Today it's 104 with 90+% humidity and I'm not sure I'm ready to test just having an electric fan, yet! Though I am contemplating a higher flowing thermostate; possibly even a cooler one.
