Subject: Dak Vs. Toy IP: Logged
Message: A close friend bought a 2005 Tacoma quad cab v-6
(245hp, 280ish? torque)automatic.
I have an 2004 Dakota CC Sport plus V-8 (235hp, 290ish? torque)automatic.
We decided the other night to take each other's truck for a test drive.
Here's the deal, guys.
We hit the highway and he wanted to run the two trucks.
Here in Florida, drag racing is punishable to an extreme extent. We went for it anyway.
Immediately my buddy punches the accelerator and my Dak just started burning the tires. I pulled away in the Toy and left it behind.
On the second run the same thing happened!
By this time traffic was getting heavy on the highway and we headed back home.
My friend (who apparently can't drive worth a damn) is now convinced that a 05 Tacoma can destroy a 04 V-8 Dak.
I know my truck and I am convinced I can atleast keep head to head with his truck if I drive my own.
Has anyone ran these two machines head to head
in a proper arena yet?
Thanks,
MAtt

Message: I have an anit-slip rear differential.
Both were spinning.
I didn't try to abuse the drivetrain on the Tacoma.

Message: Actually,Forseti, we were very responsible
(for two forty-five year old farts).
The section of highway was compltely clear.
When traffic appeared the recklessness ceased.
I haven't had an accident since 1981, a speeding ticket since 1990.
We have a local quarter mile track known as Moroso. I've heard for a few bucks you can run your car there. I've already mentioned to my friend the idea of doing that. Totally legal and Much safer, more controlled conditions such as a "Christmas tree". So far, he hasn't replied.
Gee? Do ya think a Toyota owner has some doubts?

Message: Drive your OWN LOL... then take him to the track. Make sure you practice a bit to prevent from buring your tires. unless you already know how to launch. You did say the Toy Boy was driving YOUR truck during this?
Then throw 3000 Lbs into the back and do it again
