I just found out my computer code is P0420. What does catalyst inefficient #1 mean? Do I have to take it into the dealer or will the vehicle run fine doing nothing? I just spent $4100 on a valve problem and I really dont want to spend more money on the vehicle if the problem wont hurt the engine.

Well, depending upon which engine and what year it is, P0420 could mean a bad driver's side downstream O2 sensor, or that the driver's side catalytic converter is no longer functional.
Could mean other things, too.
Depends on engine and year.

Thanks for the info Moe. The vehicle is a 2000 Dodge Durango with the largest V8 available. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
