where is the diagnostic port on this truck? where do i plug in a scanner? and... what does it look like?

I bought my truck used. Someone pulled the port out of it's bracket and shoved it up under the dash behind the fuse block. Took some searching to find the thing.
It's about 3" wide, 3/4" tall, should be under the steering wheel like daddio said, if not, look at the bracket it should be clipped into to get an idea of it's size and shape and start searching.

Actually, this is an OBDI truck. The connector is located on the passenger side firewall in the engine bay. It is an L shaped connector. They moved it into the cab for OBDII. My scanner plugs into it and also needs the cigarette lighter since the OBDI port does not provide for 12v power.

You need one that will scan OBDI codes for a Dodge product. The scanner I have is an Actron, uses cartridges so I can scan OBDII trucks and my Dak. Just do a search on ebay for OBD scanner, and make sure the one you get has OBDI capability and includes the correct cable. There is a different one for Ford, GM, Chrysler, etc for OBDI. They were pretty much all standardized for OBDII.
