Subject: 3.9 to 360 supercharged swap IP: Logged
Message: I just purchased a 360 with a vortech supercharger, gibson headers and automatic transmission for 1750 off a '99 durango. I have to put it in a:
2002 dodge dakota v6 4x4 5spd transmission rebuilt 4k miles ago.
I'll probably sell the automatic transmission, but what all do I need to do this swap? I'll need new motor mounts and what else? I saw this and said good deal so I bought it on the spot. Now I have to figure out how to put it in.

Message: whats wrong with that engine? thats what i want to know. Seems too good to be true. I purchased my powerdyne for 1300 alone. Is it the complete engine? Or just a block? j/w
Does your vortech come with all the fuel and ignition goodies? What about a aftermarket air hat?
You will also need a 360 PCM and i dont think your v6 trans will hold up to all that power. And you might want to get a trans cooler and transgo kit to go along with that automatic.
I have a automatic 99 rc 4x4 with a supercharged #9 318. I recently got the edelbrock aluminum heads along with 1.6 rocker kit and headers.
I am saving up now for a rebuilt short block as my piston rings are bad and she is smokin. But man she still moves... cant wait to see the improvement once the new block is in.
As for the installation, i would have a shop do it unless you are a skill mechanic and have all the proper tools and time.
But thats just my .02 cents.

Message: sicminds ... Could you feel a big difference with the edelbrock heads? I've read a lot of good things about them. How much did you pay for a set?

Message: Nothing wrong with it, it's a complete engine fuel rails and all. I have enough time to do it and I'm doing it myself. I'll put the truck in the barn for about a month, but I think I'll need a flexplate and a harmonic balancer. Also I am pretty sure I will have to move the motor mounts.
Does anybody have any info that might be of use?
And the transmission I might sell for 350.

Message: It's a complete engine with msd 6l ignition and #24 injectors. It's sitting in the barn now, I'll take pictures next week when I get my digital camera back from my sister. I'm going to install it myself, but I need to know what exact parts I will need. From what I've read the NV3500 tranny should hold up the power with a shift kit added. I don't think I'll have to move my motor mounts.
Does anybody have any info on whether or not I'll need a flexplate or harmonic balancer?
And will there be a problem using a stock 5.9 pcm if it comes from automatic and I'm using a 5spd?
I'd like to get this installed in the next 2 weeks. I'm painting it as we speak and ported the intake manifold last night.

Message: Will a '99 ram 4x4 5.9 computer work for my application? I think it was an automatic ram...does it matter if the computer is from an automatic and mine is going to be a 5spd? If it does matter then what do I do about getting a computer that will work if I'm keeping my 5spd? From what I read the NV3500 will hold up for a while.
