Subject: 93 CC 3.9L misses, pings, backfires when IP: Logged
Message: My Dakota runs great around town but when I go for any extended drive(30 miles or so), it starts to miss, lurch, backfire, and ping really bad. After it sits and cools down for awhile, it runs great again. Mods: cold air intake(homemade), TPS adj.,3923 Autolites, 180 Thermostat, Dynomax, K&N drop-in. Around 100K on engine. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Message: I forgot to mention that it idles fine, but misses when revved beyond 1500 RPM after it starts acting up. When driving, it does all these things whether I'm accelerating or decelerating, but worst when accelerating. The tach jumps all over, too. Help!!

Message: if you havent already, drop this in the V6 forum. its a V6 subject, so i would say they would have a better chance of answering that question. however, i would take a look at replacing the crank sensor if you havent before. common problem with v6's and v8 magnums
