Subject: "Dyno Proven" headers?? IP: Logged
Message: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7985501683&category=33631&sspagename=WDVW
I was looking at these headers on ebay and they say they add 21HP and 42 Torque. I have never seen headers alone add that much power. They seem pretty cheap for stainless headers. Is anyone running these on there truck. If you are I would like to know how they are.

Message: I figured they couldnt be too great of quality for only 200 dollars for stainless headers. That is just as cheap as the black painted flotechs and I know those are not very good. The dyno numbers almost look like they ran a 318 the first time and then ran a 360 the second.

Message: Call "Dyno Pro Performance Inc." and ask them to verify the results. One thing you might notice and that is the type of vehicle is not listed on the dyno sheet.
I read it fairly carefully and I didn't see where they said your particular vehicle will make those gains.
Intense is right you buy cheap headers and you get cheap material and second rate fabrication and welding. Higher quality headers are made with 409 stainless rather than 303. The expansion rate of 409 is about 2/3 that of 303. That means the bolts are less likely to loosen up, the headers are less likely to leak and or crack.
Of course not terribly impress with higher quality headers either. I just got a set of JBA's because I got a terrific deal, over $100 less than group buys. Right now I'm gasket matching them which I've never had to do before and there appears to be at least one pin hole that I'm going to weld up. I may do a dye penetrant test on all the welds just so that I don't end up taking them off afterwards.
If you know welding or know a good welder cheap headers can be worth taking the risk. The choice is entirely yours.

Message: I already have gibson stainless headers on my truck but I was trying to convince my buddy not to get those SS auto chrome headers. Hopefully this thread will change his mind. I tried to find that picture of the turbo made my SS auto that was epoxied together but I could not find it.
Anyone locate that forum that has that picture??
