Having trouble with my '00 Dakota I will drive it for awhile and the check gauges light comes on. My temp goes to 260 which is hot and then a few seconds later it cools itself down. Is this normal. I just bought this truck a month ago. Please Help

No > Not normal > You need to determine if the gauge or system is defective or the engine is over heating > Possible causes are > Low anti freeze level > Bad thermostate > Hose colapsing, pluged radiator > I'd Get a remote temperature radiator Checker and check that first before diving into the electrical
