Subject: Put, put, put engine noise IP: Logged
Message: My 2000 4.7, with 147 000km has begun to make noise. The noise begins while excelerating from dead stop and sounds like putt, putt, putt, and speeds up with the truck. Sort of sounds like mini backfires?
Any ideas....

Message: Measure your ignition coils, 0-500 Ohms on primary, 6-9K Ohms Primary to Secondary, Use a 1/4" extension as an aid in measuring, replace coils as necessary,
I have a 2000 4.7L, 5speed, CC, I found a bad coil while doing a plug change

Message: the coil over plug has a primary and secondary, the primary is the connector, between these contacts you should get a measurement of 0-500 Ohms,
the primary to secondary measurement is from either of the primary contacts in the connector of the coil to where the spark plug is connected, useing a 1/4 inch ratchet extension instead of a spark plug to touch the connector inside the coil, this should measure 6-9K Ohms
