Subject: Fast idle on startup

Message:
When I start my '01 QC (4.7L / Auto) in the mornings, it immediately jumps to between 1700 and 2000 RPM's. Does this sound familiar to anyone? If so, what did you do to correct the problem? BTW...it has 101,000 miles on it.

I was having a similar problem. The idle was also high sometimes when stopped at a light with the A/C on. I ended up putting a new TPS sensor on it and all idle problems went away.

This sounds familiar. I am also having this problem. In addition, I am having a fluctuation in my RPM when cruising on level roads at speeds from 45 to 65 mph. My RPMs will fluctuate from 300 to 500 RPMs. Will a faulty TPS sensor also cause this problem, or do I have another problem?

Any other thoughts or responses? It seems to be occurring more regularly now (virtually every morning on cold start). Kind of ironic since my truck now has 101,600 miles on it and HAD a 100,000 mile warranty. Oh well - it's mine now!

Have you tried changing out the TPS as cahiatt suggested. I did and all my problems with rpm's are gone.

I had the same problem and changing the TPS solved it. Part was about $30 at Napa.
