Are there any differences in the 5.9 that is in my 2001 quad cab 4x4 sport vs. the 5.9 that came in the R/T trucks?

No difference internally. The RT had a slightly better exhaust, but that is it. Was good for an extra 5hp. 5.9s in the quadcab and Durango were rated at 245hp, RT got 250.

So my Gibson cat back would make up the extra 5 hp right? The R/T was just basically a trim package then?

pretty much. other than the QC's the only way you got a 5.9 is in the R/T.

5.9 is a gas pig. 5.2L has all the power you need in a midsize. i say if you want a hot rod, get one.

i disagree jayb. if you want a "hot rod", drop a 340 in that puppy.

jayb - there's no such thing as "all the power you need". There's also no such thing as "too much"!

If I was concerned about gas mileage, I would not have bought a 360! I made the mistake of sacrificing power for milage once, I won't do it again!
