Message: Does anyone have an Intense Perfromace cold air kit on their Dak or know someone who has one? If so, are they worth the ca$h? And this summer i will be towing a 21ft boat that tips the scales around 4000lb. Any suggestions on how to get some more beef behind the pedal? I'm thinking cam?
Thanx Alot

Message: Get a higher stall converter, heard that does wonders for towing. Beefs up your torque & costs less to buy and to install.

I like it. Whether it's worth the money or not is up to you, but here's my take on it. It is better than the stock setup, and better than the airaid-homebrew combo that I was running...had to do a homebrew replacement for the airhat because my body lift put a big kink in the flex hose between the airhat and air filter box. How is it better?
1. A little louder than stock, but nowhere near as loud as any open filter setup. Some like it loud...if so, skip the filter canister.
2. No hot underhood air being sucked into the engine that you get with an open filter. The airaid would run doggy in the spring/summer/fall because it was sucking so much hot underhood air. The z tube feels like it gives snappier part-throttle response, and the engine feels more eager to rev. I have absolutely no numbers to back this up.
3. It looks great.
I'm not knocking the airaid, but I like the z tube better. You need to relocate the cruise control bracket (in the kit), and that's a little bit of a pain. The kit also provides a thin piece of aluminum or silver plastic to stick over the hole behind the PCM to prevent hot underhood air from entering the fender (where the z tube gets its air). I didn't bother doing that because I didn't want to remove and re-attach my PCM, and I figured that Dodge put a hole beind the PCM to help keep it cool. And if you've got an automatic, good luck on attaching the plastic bracket that the Z tube's flex hose is supposed to attach to...the bracket places the flex hose right where the plugs for the transmission controller sit, so I just shoved part of the flex hose through the hole in the fenderwell. I don't think that would be a problem with a manual transmission.

Message: Thanx Dan...Ya I am running an open breather now and love that hollow 4-barrel sound it produces. I was just looking for some other opinions on the setup. Would you happen to have any ideas on cams?

Message: No idea on cams. One of the site members just installed the 4.7 H.O. cams from a 2002 Grand Cherokee on his Dak and got good results, but I can't remember who. Do a search and you'll probably find the posts on that. If you've got a 5.2 or 5.9, I'm sure there are people on the site who have installed a hotter cam.
