Message: What is a good cylinder pressure for a stock 5.2? I have 99000 miles on my engine from a 94 dakota and its never been rebuilt. I am running between 170-180 psi on every cylinder, thanks guys

Message: I did one in my supercharged 5.2 and was getting as high as 190 but as low as 130, bad rings.

Message: Those are pretty good numbers. I've pulled 160# on some well mantained 5.2's at 200,000

Message: Mine get's around 150-155 constant on every cylinder, does that mean my engine is almost worn out? Thanks. It has always been well maintained. It has 74k miles.

Message: If they're all pretty close like that, its usually good news. There could be some variation between your gauge and the ones the guys used who got higher #s; or differences for different year engines.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Message: i only had time for one cylinder and it was 143psi. guess thats low. 155000 miles i've only put 10,000 miles on the truck so who knows what else was done to it.

Message: Don't forget altitude has to be factored in. Drop 1% from your readings for every 1000 feet. I live at almost 6000 feet. That's not a hugh differance unless your compression is at the minimum listed for tha engine.
So many problems .... So little time

Message: I did mine too and was getting around 180. I then cleaned the carbon out of the engine and was down around 160. 160 is a good number.
Biggest thing is that they are all close.

Message: Cody 60 - 90 psi wont even get or keep a motor running.
Wet test then post the numbers again.
Remember the throttle has to be wide open
while testing and test each and every cyl.
We need the numbers of each cyl. dry then wet tested.

Message: Ok 1st cyl was getting 90 dry. With some oil in the cyl it
jumped up to 100 psi. Same for the others. Highest was cyl
no 4 at 110 psi. If im not mistaken that means its rings

Message: Actually with the oil the compression should have jumped much higher if it was the rings. I would say valves, Time for a Valve job an new valve springs.
If you had a big difference between 2 cyls. it would be head gasket. (Why I said post the numbers for each cyl. so I could read them all)
You did have the throttle (gas pedal) all the way open (to the floor) when testing correct?
