Subject: pulled the emission codes for a '91 IP: Logged
Message: 91 Dakota- 5.2l- the other day, the engine started running a little rough and the check engine light came on; the codes were 1-1, 1-2, and 1-7 (finished with a 5-5); and whenever I've pulled the codes, it never starts with an 8-8 (beginning of codes) and 1-2 is always flashed, even when the engine light doesn't come on. Anyway, I disconnected the battery and when I hooked it up again and drove it, the codes (except for 1-2) disappeared. Temperature guage reads normal. I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the computer?

Message: What modifications have you done to the vehicle. If I'm correct,(I dont have my shop manual with me) a 12 is the EGR is either shutting when its supposed to be open or vice versa. My 94 has that code too, on my truck its caused by the fact that I dont have enough back pressure at certain speeds to cause the EGR to open/shut, no cat on my truck. Could have a bad EGR valve. I havent had any drivability problems yet with mine

Message: 12 on mine is "standby memory power lost", 11 is "distributer input" and 17 is "engine running too cool".....but since I reset it, it's running fine....still have the 12, though. All stock/no mods.
