in 2001 slt its right in the vent from the fan motor which is on the passenger side

First of all, I'd like to sincerely thank all of you for your valuable info! I have a 2005 Dakota Sport with this same problem (what a surprise!) so I called my Dodge dealer and they admitted they knew all about this problem. It's too bad they can't step up and do the right thing by recalling this part since it sounds like it could possibly be a fire hazard.
I asked them how much it would cost to have them do the job and they said $150. Now, after reading this thread, it appears that the part itself costs at the most $15-20 or so and some reports say even less. I'm not that experienced in mechanics but after reading this thread, it sounds like I can definitely change this myself.
Thanks for saving me $130-135. You're the best!

i need 2 know exact location of resistor 2 replace it on a 2004 quad cab, i am not mechanically inclined, i took out glove box n part of dash looking 4 this thing please help me

Recently my heater/ac stopped working on high, i can
turn it on all settings and each setting increases
the speed but when i hit high it slows down like its
on low. I have replaced the blower motor resister
before and am just wondering if it might have gone
out again? or if something else is the problem.

this is easy take a mirror and place it on the florboard on the pass side and look up you will se 2 5/16 nutts behind a black cover just about 3 inches apart uscrew them both and pull down the resister ther will be a red clip you will have to slid sideways and then the plug can be removed. take the resister to the dealer and you will pay 13 dallars for a new one reverse the prosiedure and youre fan will run like new. if it is scourched go tto the junk yard and buy a new plug for a few bucks and then cut the wires and replace the plug end if neeeded. just match the wires up tothe collrs that they are that is all you need to do I have replaced three of them with eas. have funn and don't fret the job. just use common cience that is all
