Message: I put a cervini's ram air hood on my 2002 Dakota and it ran cooler and it seemed to have a little more power over 3000 RPMs.

Message: If you're running the factory airbox, you'll probably notice a decent power increase from using a K&N system.
I don't think that using an aftermarket hood's system vs. a regular K&N kit makes much of a difference.
The main reason to get any aftermarket hood is because you like the way it looks.

Message: I've got one on my 4.7. If only for the sound that
it makes when you pedal it, it's worth it. It's
great. I think its worth something in the
horsepower area. My cousin's R/T can't keep
up from street light to street light.

Message: I had a shaker put on my R/T a few weeks ago... I noticed a deffinate increase in power. From what Iv heard Iv heard some guys saying they've managed to get anywhere from 25 horse to 35 horse increase... I guess it depends on who builds it. That info is from some of the same guys who run 408 stroker motors too.

Message: @ Sincity:
Before I bought my hood I made sure there was a larger power increase than the cold air intake (got on the R/T forum to get feedback about it). Cowl Induction/Ram Air's function more effectly from the get go already since there pulling in cold air straight from the outside... While the cold air intake is picking up heat from the engine. Also there is more air being rammed through the scoop to begin with for the simple fact its on the outside of the vehicle.
ColdAir intake is deffinatly a wonderful mod dont get me wrong... Its just everything has its ups and its downs.

Message: Sadly, the answer is yes, drtswinger.
The lower portion of the "airbox" bolts to the top of the engine...directly on top of the throttle body. The scoop is then held onto that base with screws.
Beings that your Paxton sits across the top of your engine, there is no place to mount the airbox.
Not sure if that is very clear. You may want to check out my web site for photos of the "airbox"/lower scoop assembly. That should give you a good idea how it mounts.

the "powerdyne" can be used with a shaker hood set up. it will be non-functional but you will have all the eye appeal of the shaker in place.
proglass has adapted the air box to work with this model sc only.
