Message: I have a 99 cc 318 auto 4x4 dakota with 97,000 miles which ran great until yesterday. The speedo just quit working and along with that the parking brake light came on as well as the abs light. The abs has never actually worked in this truck. The parking brake is not on so im thinking this could be the trucks way of throwing a code. Has this happened to anyone in the past? Im thinking just some kind of electrical short.

Message: I'd start with the wheel speed sensor in the rear axle.

Message: Yep it is most likely your $45 rear wheel speed sensor. It will turn on our abs/brake light on, and will make your speedo either not work at all, or just not under 40mph or so. Go down to dodge...spend the 45 bucks and spend 15 minutes to change it out. It is on top of your rear differential. Very easy to change out. Have them squize some di-electrode grease onto the connection though.
