Message: Most all TB's are made of aluminum and any metal polishing technique can be used. Polishing a tb is 99% glitz and 1% functional.
Do a search on this site or email me for pics.

Message: I got a v6, would it be better for me to port my stock tb or get a v8 tb. Wouldn't a ported v8 tb be over kill?

Message: No matter how much you port a v8 tb, it won't be overkill unless you open up the intake manifold to accomdate that "potential" flow.
The advantages to opening up your v6 tb is that you just bolt it back in place and go. If you do it yourself, it doesn't cost you a dime. That's assuming that you have both the skills and the tools. I happen to believe that a properly ported v6 tb flows as well or better than a v8 tb.

Message: IMO, if you have to ask those questions, you are probably better off not doing it.
Any highspeed or carbide burr can be used for fast metal removal. Use sanding and polishing tips to finish. The idea is to open it up so that the bore is straight and without a step, basically the same as the diameter at the throttle plates.
Poor workmanship like this may even reduce flow--

Message: Start as coarse as you can get and work your way up. Personally, I would look for suitable size flapper wheels if I were to try doing it by hand. Finish up with 3M Cross Pads. Drum sanders or conical abrasive wheels will also work.
I may actually see if I can make the above tb look decent doing it by hand.
